Degreaser

ds-COR is an extra-strong cleaning and degreasing agent, suitable for both ordinary steel and cold-rolled Corten steel. Using this product is highly recommended, as it prepares the Corten surface for even, homogeneous oxidation. Although a cold-rolled steel surface may look clean enough, the grease on it is often contaminated with dirt, which in turn can prevent the activator (act-Cor) from penetrating and the patina from forming beautifully and evenly.

ds-COR is a water-based alkali, non-flammable and odourless. It is most convenient to spray the liquid directly onto the steel sheet surface. No prior cleaning with other products is needed. Note that the product must NOT be shaken before use — shaking creates foam that can leave marks on the surface, and after the oxidation activator is applied there is a chance they will remain visible.

Very important: after cleaning the steel with ds-COR, all remaining liquid must be removed completely. Otherwise patches may appear that will not oxidise, because ds-COR reacts on contact with the oxide activator (act-COR).
