Monument to partisan Juozas Lukša-Daumantas

The monument, erected in the Žirmūnai district of Vilnius in 2024, commemorates the partisan and resistance fighter Juozas Lukša-Daumantas. Its form recalls the wooden house that once stood at Minties St. 6, where Lukša-Daumantas lived and operated. The sculpture faces West — the direction in which he travelled to seek support for Lithuania's freedom fight. Each edge of the base conveys another of his identities — the code names that helped him stay hidden and continue the fight for freedom.

The forest symbol is subtly integrated into the composition — an allusion both to one of Lukša's code names, "Miškinis", and to the forests that sheltered the partisans. Five oaks beside and within the monument recall the five years of his active resistance. Light plays a significant role too, symbolising the positive side of the story and Lukša's aspiration to remain visible and relevant today.

One of the biggest challenges was the design of the finishing: preserving the monument's integrity, integrating the lighting and mounting everything on the massive foundation structure — demanding time, meticulous design and specialists from many fields.
